Meet the Members of the 2024 Juries

For its 2024 edition, the Festival Courts d’un soir is pleased to introduce the artists and arts and culture professionals serving on its juries.

Drawing on their diverse backgrounds and expertise, the jury members will carefully consider the works featured in the short film and series competitions, as well as La Fête du Clip.

Short Film Competition Jury

Pascale Faure

Programmer and consultant

A leading specialist in French short films, Pascale Faure is a prominent figure in the film industry. Immersed in artistic and cinematic creation for some 30 years, she headed Canal+’s Short Programs and Original Productions unit from 2001 to 2020.

Émilie L. Côté

Actor and screenwriter

A trained actor, Émilie L. Côté notably played Nathalie-Jasmine in Vincent Biron’s feature film Les Barbares de la Malbaie and Maude in Chloé Robichaud’s Féminin/Féminin. She also works on the development of new television fiction projects.

Florence M. Rosalie

Poet, screenwriter, and director

Raised in Montréal, Florence M. Rosalie is a poet, screenwriter, and director. She is also a project coordinator for the Black on Black Films collective.

Éli Jean Tahchi

Filmmaker

Éli Jean Tahchi’s socially engaged cinema is distinguished by an approach that is incisive, deeply human, and rich in metaphor. His work regularly explores LGBTQ+ realities and questions of identity.

Véronique Charbonneau

Producer

Véronique Charbonneau is a producer who works on both short films and series. Her credits include Jean-François Chagnon’s series Inspirez, expirez and Zoé Pelchat’s short film Gaby les collines.

Series Competition Jury

Christian Laurence

Filmmaker

After studying film at UQAM, Christian Laurence founded Kino in 1999, an international movement of independent filmmakers. Following two seasons at the helm of Tabous et interdits on TV5, he continued his career with the series Web thérapie, La dérape, and 5e Rang.

Juliette Gariépy

Actor and director

An actor and director, Juliette Gariépy has ten years of experience performing in the Canadian film and television industry. In December 2023, she won the Iris Award for Revelation of the Year at the Gala Québec Cinéma for her first leading role in Pascal Plante’s film Les Chambres rouges.

Céline Roustan

Programmer

Céline Roustan works as a programmer for several international festivals. She collaborates with SXSW and the Palm Springs International Film Festival, in addition to her work with Short of the Week.

La Fête du Clip Jury

Olivier Côté

Screenwriter and director

Olivier Côté is a Montréal-based screenwriter and director. He began his career in the world of music videos before studying film at UQAM. While still at university, he made his mark on the short-film circuit with his first film, Filme-moi, which won Best Student Film at the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma in 2020.

Noé Lira

Singer-songwriter, actor, and dancer

Noé Lira enjoys exploring the blending of artistic forms and cultures. A Quebec-Mexican artist, she creates multifaceted, socially relevant works that address issues such as violence against women.

A firm believer in the power of collective transformational rituals, she strives to foster dialogue through her work. She seeks to amplify voices, free bodies, and bring minds together.

Yaël Barouh

Booking agent at Bonsound

Active in the performing arts for the past decade, Yaël Barouh has diverse production experience in theatre, contemporary dance, and film. He now works in the music industry.

After joining Bonsound as a live-show programming coordinator, he now works there as a booking agent.
