Back from the La Rochelle Fiction Festival

For the second year, the team traveled to La Rochelle for the 27th edition of the Fiction Festival as part of a 4-member delegation. This trip is part of the partnership between the two festivals and contributes to the development of the Montréal Series Market (Marché de la série de Montréal), whose 4th edition will take place from April 12 to 15, 2027.

During the visit, we discovered numerous Francophone works and met with professionals from Francophone series production, broadcasting, and creation. Discussions with organizations, companies, and key figures from the Francophone cultural sector helped nurture the ties established between our two events and pave the way for new collaborations.

We are also delighted to see several series presented during our 11th edition in April 2026 featured in La Rochelle's official lineup. Among them, Éric Blouin’s Devenir Margot, produced by Babel Films, won the award for Best Series Under 20 Minutes in the International Francophone Competition.

Alexandre Pelletier’s Groupe de soutien (ROMÉO), which screened as the closing film for Courts d’un soir in 2026, was also featured in La Rochelle’s lineup, as was Daphnée Côté-Hallé and Pablo Escobar Tuduri’s Pénélope Partout (Écho Média). The latter took part in Focus on Canadian Content, a pitching session designed to promote the international distribution of Canadian series, which the La Rochelle Fiction Festival team attended in 2026.

Finally, Sarah Jacquier’s Pause déj, which received a Special Jury Mention at the last edition of Courts d’un soir, won the award for Best Series Under 20 Minutes in the French Competition at La Rochelle.
